Hopes, Change and a Dream

Amid the opulent inaugural glitter and historic glow of the new presidency ofBarack Obama is a choice between death and decency. He enters the White House promising hopeful change to fulfill a dream for all Americans. Yet how can it be, when a whole class of Americans, innocent, defenseless, is treated as trash. The point is illustrated by a former abortion clinic employee, who gave this following account:
A baby was 35 weeks gestation whenthe abortion was performed. The baby came out and was moving. The abortionist took a utensil and stabbed the baby in the left ribcage. She twisted it until the baby stopped moving.
At another abortion clinic in Florida, an AfricanAmerican baby girl was also born during the abortion. The baby was shoved intoa bag and tossed on to the roof of the clinic. She died a horrible death gasping for air. It is clear that preborn babies remain the new Blacks, a whole class lacking in the most basic human rights.
Obama’s lofty pronouncements of caring for the least of these or being his brother’s keeper conflict with campaign promises to the Planned Parenthood camp. During the campaign, he was careful to cover his radical pro-abortion extremism. At times it did slip out. For instance, he stated regarding his young daughters that “... if they make a mistake, I don’twant them punished with a baby.” Equating a baby with punishment is a most radical pro abortion view. When asked by Pastor Rick Warren, at what point does a baby get human rights,Obama said, “…answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade.” Reality exposes his answer as fiction. The truth is so simple a child readily understands it as expressed by the elephant in Dr.Seuss’s story Horton Hears a Who, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
If Obama wants every American life protected, he can begin by changing his position on FOCA, the Freedom of Choice Act. If he signs this bill as promised, all pro life protections across the states will be invalidated. This would include; Partial Birth Abortion bans, restrictions on abortion funding, parental involvement laws and conscience clauses. This extremist position on abortion is consistently opposed by a majority ofAmericans. Two recent polls the Harris Interactive survey and the Marist College Institute of Public Opinion poll confirm it. They revealed that a small minority, only 9% and 8% respectively, of Americans favor abortion on demand at any time, for any reason and at taxpayer’s expense. Obama will choose death and destruction or life and liberty. He can become Lincoln like by restoring personhood to the preborn. This January 22, 2009 marks the anniversary of 1973 Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion and its legacy of over 50 million dead preborn children. It is a hope and a dream that Obama will reverse his FOCA promise. That is change we can all live with.
